Product description
5.97kg Race-Ready
The R5 is legendary and has been part of the history of Cervélo for over two decades. From the R5CA, which set new standards, to Wout van Aerts' victory on Mont Ventoux. The new R5 is an incredibly light racing bike. It weighs 5.97 kg with RED and Dura-Ace equipment. At the same time, it is stiff enough for professional cycling at the highest level - Pauline Ferrand-Prevot proved this impressively with her victory in the Tour de France Femmes.
Building a lightweight road bike is relatively easy. But building a lightweight racing bike that is stiff enough to accelerate quickly and transmit the power of the strongest riders? That's a completely different challenge. The R5 is the bike for the demanding mountain stages of the Tour de France and the mercilessly steep climbs of the Vuelta a España. Bikes built for the mountains must not only accelerate quickly and climb exceptionally well, but also descend safely and predictably. While the UCI stipulates a minimum weight of 6.8 kg, we "mere mortals" benefit from riding the lightest road bike on the market.
