The 1x system is ideal for Gravel, with the 13 speed ratio allows you - thanks to the 9er sprocket - to work with a balanced gear ratios.
The Ekar 13-speed cassette is available in three different options that round out the range and cover the various applications in the gravel segment. Each combination offers a wide possibility of ratios. Small jumps in the first 6 gears, while the jumps in the upper half of the cassette, increase appropriately. This characteristic provides an optimal riding experience that helps you get the most out of your performance on difficult trails and terrain. The wide range of lighter gears, allows a more compact cassette for demanding endurance events and longer ratios for avid adventurers. The different cassettes are combined with a choice of easily interchangeable front chainrings to offer the widest possible range of ratios, small gear jumps and maximum efficiency, as well as - unlike the 2x systems - no overlap of gears. Two of the cassettes are equipped with a 9 initial pinion. Extensive comparative testing has shown that a 9-pinion is as efficient as any 10 or 11-pinion, with no increased friction due to the special arrangement of the pinion teeth, so none of the transmitted power is lost.
Each cassette is composed of two sprocket blocks: 4 smaller and 9 larger sprockets in the configuration of both 9s cassettes; 3 smaller and 10 larger in the configuration with the 10s cassette. For greater mechanical strength, a special steel with a nickel-chrome satin finish is used to reduce wear and friction, ensuring optimal power transmission while riding. The 13-speed cassette is specifically designed for the new N3W freewheel body currently used on Campagnolo Shamal Carbon wheels. This N3W freewheel will be compatible with a wide range of wheels that will be announced soon. The N3W freewheel is very versatile, has the same groove profiles as the classic Campagnolo freewheel body, but is lighter and 4.4 mm shorter. With the appropriate adapter, the N3W freewheel body is also compatible with all current 12-, 11- and 10-speed cassettes from Campagnolo (from 11 teeth!). Thanks to the soon available adapter kits, all current Campagnolo HH12 wheels for disc brakes are also retrofittable with the N3W retrofit kit and thus easily compatible with EKAR cassette: the wheel change is quick and easy!
